Veermansplaat is an elongated island, ± 1 km wide by ± 4 km long, located between the Slikken van Goeree and the Slikken van Bommenede. It is the greenest island in the Grevelingen area with a large surface area. Sea buckthorn bushes and willows. Seashell beds and mudflats are located around the edges of the island.
There is a landing stage for water sports.
Shetland ponies graze on Veermansplaat year round, and are joined by cows for part of the year. As the vegetation has grown considerably in recent years, some areas are also mowed on a regular basis.
